Farmers Markets enhance our spirit of community by creating a gathering place for the COMMUNITY, while helping to promote and enhance the economic vitality of our local farmers.

The North county Farmers Market Assn. strives to:

  • Support local family farmers and businesses by giving them a viable outlet to sell directly to the consumer,
  • Enrich the community by making farm fresh products available to shoppers,
  • Inform consumers about healthy and sustainable food choices, and
  • Promote a community gathering spot that creates a festive atmosphere and celebrates diversity.

Community Canopy at Farmers Market

NCFMA encourages local organizations to interact with the community at farmers' markets. Please read the information below regarding the guidelines for participating in the markets.

Community access space will be allocated on the following basis:

  1. Availability of space in the market: NCFMA's priority is to make space available to farmers and other vendors as permitted by our county and/or city permits. No space in the market is reserved for community groups, and access is subject to there being space available.

  2. First come, first served: Groups that wish to set up and information booth at NCFMA markets must contact manager by letter or fax and indicate the date(s) they wish to attend. Space will be allocated on a first come, first served basis, provided that the group meets the following criteria.
  3. Criteria for eligibility: To be eligible for a community access spot at our markets, your group must meet the following criteria:
    • Be a non-profit organization with 501C.3 status or a public interest group
    • Be a local business
    • Local elected officials and persons registering voter are allowed
    • Agricultural, environmental, and health-related groups are given priority
    • No obscene materials allowed
    • No items may be sold on site

  4. Application Process

  5. Qualifying organizations interested in participating shall fill out an application and return it to the NCFMA by fax.
    • Market manager will make a good faith effort to allocate space to qualifying organizations and individuals.
    • Requests by local schools or charitable organizations to sell tickets or other items shall be considered by the Board on a case by case basis. Decision of the Board shall be final.
